The IRS is opening a Business area on irs-rp.com. It is reached from the account menu, top right of the site, by signing in with the business’s Discord account.
Up-to-date details
Name, legal form, sector, head office, IBAN or accounting link, owners now update their business details themselves. These details then pre-fill every return.
The business grade
The business file shows the grade, what raises or lowers it, the tax to pay and the letters received from the IRS.
Salary or dividend
Every owner must now declare their pay mode (art. 2-4.9 of the Business Code). A salary stays subject to sector caps, a dividend is limited to 10% of after-tax profit and to $1,000,000. The choice can be changed once a month. For an earlier change, simply ask the IRS, which will take care of it.
Employment contracts
Every employee must have their contract registered in the Business area, with their last name, first name and contract type, permanent, fixed-term or volunteer. Date of birth, IBAN, photo and document link complete the file and must be kept up to date.
A contract approved by a lawyer
The law is clear (art. 2-1.1), the contract is approved by a lawyer or drawn up from an already approved template. It states at least the identity of both parties, the business name, the job, the pay, the start date, the type of contract and its duration for a fixed-term contract (art. 2-1.2). If attached, the document must remain viewable by the IRS at all times.
What to do now
The IRS asks owners to complete their area without delay, as these details may be checked during inspections. Any question? An IRS agent will answer you in your business’s liaison channel.
